McDonalds Writes Back

I received the following response to my Letter of Concern to McDonalds. This post will make more sense if you read that post first.

Hello TWIT:

Thank you for contacting McDonald's recently with your idea for a product or service that you believe would be of interest to us. We appreciate your interest in McDonald's, but it is our company's policy not to consider unsolicited ideas from outside the McDonald's system. We have retained an electronic copy of your submission solely for our records.

It's not that great ideas cannot come from people outside of McDonald's. Each year, however, McDonald's receives thousands of unsolicited ideas and proposals for products and services from individuals as well as companies. Because of the volume of unsolicited ideas and the difficulty of sorting out what is truly a "new" idea as opposed to a concept that has already been considered or developed by McDonald's, we must adhere to a strict policy of not reviewing any unsolicited ideas that come from outside the McDonald's family of employees, franchisees and approved suppliers. We realize that we may be missing out on a few good ideas, but we have had to adopt this policy for legal and business reasons.

As a result, we must decline your invitation to review your submission and hope you understand the reasons for this decision.

Again, thank you for thinking of McDonald's.
Lisa

My Rebuttal:

Dear McDonalds,

Seriously?!? OK, your loss.
By the way, I ate Jack in The Box Pancakes yesterday at 11:57, and you missed out on my $3.99. Did you know their breakfast platter comes with bacon? Thick bacon? (Well thicker than yours at least. Still not thick enough to respectfully serve to my Dad.)

Did you also notice that they brought back their knock off your Big Mac? It's a direct knock off, with secret sauce and everything. It was brought back in response to a petition from their customers.

I would watch my back if I were you. This is what happened to Myspace. Someone came along with a similar idea, and gave people something better, which made their competitor totally irrelevant. Now, the whole entire world is on Facebook, and not Myspace.

Don't think it can't happen to you, if you don't start seriously listening to your customers' wants.

We want breakfast served all day.

Just sayin'.

Oh, and thank you for making great pancakes.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Customer

P.S. Did you know Burger King is now serving Cinnamon Rolls all day long? Are you? Uh nope, you stop serving them at 10:30am. McDonalds who?

  1. I loved reading through this series of letters, but personally, I'm okay with them missing out on the extra money. I refuse to eat at McDonald's anyways. Thanks for the laugh!

  2. You know how you just randomly (sometimes) click from one blog to another to another either from a comment or a link on a sidebar, and then you don't remember how it was you got there, but you're glad you did? I LOVE this post! I am a McDonald's girl thru and thru (as in drive-thru everyday)and this was pretty funny! I wrote a letter (or email) once hoping to get a little something (anything) in return - but I didn't. BOO! Enjoyed this post tho! ;)
